MLK Weekend Snow Trip for the South & Atlantic Coastal region.

Water Turned to Snow for #TeamNewsTuesday!

Some of our skiers took advantage of the recent three-day holiday weekend by going on a snow skiing adventure. For the South & Atlantic Coastal Region, this has been a tradition for many years. The SAC used to have their Midwinter Conference at this time, but they had too much fun for it all to fit into one weekend. Most of the teams from the SAC Region were able to join in on the fun! They were not the only teams making the most of this cold weather. Some teams from the Western Region did as well! See below for some snap shots from their memorable weekends.

SAC Mountain Weekend

University of Georgia joined us and had a blast teaching some of their skiers how to ski/snowboard! Check out their instagram shots below, to see a clip showing what happens when water skiers are caught on water that has frozen into snow.

Lander University was also able to join in on the fun! Watch out for this new team who has been working hard as they enter the NCWSA world. You can keep up with them on their Instagram or Facebook!

Auburn University had some fun times with us as well!

Of course Clemson University also had to show their school spirit after becoming NCAA Football National Champs!

Yes, there were some accidents. One of Clemson’s alumni tried snow ski jumping (twice) and decided to help some of his teammates down the mountain… in his arms… or by laying on top of him.

There was also a power loss issue, so out came cards against humanity!

Despite some of these issues that occurred, it wrapped up to be another successful Mountain Weekend for this group of skiers.

West Coast Snow Ski Adventure!

The SAC teams were not the only ones who embraced the cold for MLK weekend! Arizona State did as well. Although, I think they had a bit better ski conditions in Vail, CO then the SAC did in Boone, NC.

ASU recounted their best moment as all 11 of them sharing a large couch as a bed! While it was tight, they made it work.

Meanwhile, their craziest moment was when Brett Streitfeld was playing simulated golf and put a ball through their friends window. Whoops! Wish we could see a video of that one!

UCLA, SDSU and Cal Poly also joined in on the fun out west! They went up to Mammoth Mountain to embrace the cold. Their best moment of the weekend was going down Dropout Chutes (a double black diamond) with some of their skiers experiencing it for the first time!

UCLA’s craziest moment was Justin Levine (junior) screaming in his sleep “there in here!”, but he didn’t remember it come morning!

Don’t Worry, It Will Be Warm Again Soon!

We are glad everyone is having fun while it is cold. We cannot wait to see all the posts when we get to ski on melted snow again!
