The SAC Starts off their Spring Season

UGA Ski Dogs Spring Starter

On the last weekend of March, the Southern & Atlantic Coastal Region (the SAC) teams that are not in Florida kicked off their spring season with the University of Georgia’s tournament in Forsyth, Georgia at Southern Waters. With a 8:30am start of Men’s A Slalom, the SAC was able to roll through all three events on a sunny Saturday. Even though there were some difficulties with getting jump started, the University of Georgia Ski Team worked together to get a quick fix.

The Results

The Clemson Ski Team placed first in team scores with 1950 points. The University of Georgia Ski team took 2nd with 850 points. Lander University wasn’t too far behind with 430 points. Auburn University followed them up with 345 points. And last but not least a single University of Alabama skier skied B team to round out the teams in attendance.

The Clemson Ski Team finished first with 1075 points in both Men’s and Women’s A Team. Lander University finished second in Men’s A Team with 360 points, and the University of Georgia finished second in Women’s A Team with 500 points.

It is great to see some of the smaller teams in the SAC grow and compete well. While the scores were low this weekend, the SAC expects to see an increase as for many people this was their first time skiing since Nationals!

The Safari

It is a tradition in the Southern & Atlantic Coastal Region for the hosting school to set a theme that is to be worn to the Mexican restaurant on Saturday and throughout the night. UGA set a theme of “Safari” and the skiers obliged!
