Introducing Your New NCWSA Operations Chair: Michael Testa

Testa has been appointed for a month or so now, but it has been a busy few weeks! So let’s take a breath, hope for summer, and get to know our favorite “Uncle Mike!”

Michael Testa

Who are you?

I’m Uncle Mike – y’all already know who it is. I am a Marquette Water Ski Team alumnus, where I was president of the team. I’ve been on the Conference, Regional, and National boards before. Now I am very excited to be continuing my involvement with this new position!

Why did you decide to take on the position of Operations Chairperson?

2018 Operations Chair Intro: Mike TestaI ran for Operations Chair because I wanted to continue making a difference in the collegiate skiing world. I got so much out of my experience that I cannot possibly imagine not doing something to give back! Operations is a cool position because it has the ability to touch so many different things through rule changes and implementation. I get the opportunity to speak to a lot of people at tournaments, the time I spend working at ski school, and other events. Through these activities I feel I am very well connected to the water ski world, and these interactions allow me to use the information I have and will gather to implement meaningful change.

What is your one big idea or goal?

2018 Operations Chair Intro: Mike TestaThe two big things that I’m tackling right now are going to be the Hall of Fame voting protocol and the NCWSA Alumni Nationals standards. These are two huge items that have the ability to impact the future of our sport in huge ways, and I’ve been slaving away at them. I’d love to see these things implemented and running smoothly so that we can continue the growth that we’ve been seeing over the past few years. Collegiate skiing is truly the gateway to our sport, so these things are truly important to keep our alumni involved!
