The University of Alabama won (and hosted) the 2018 Eastern Regionals in Tupelo, MS by a slim margin of 200 points with Florida Southern College coming in second. With a tournament of Hill Billies, many PB’s and a new Eastern Region/South Atlantic Conference jump record set by Quinn Haines of 188 feet (57.3m), everyone was sad to crash into Monday and get their student on.

Thanks to All Volunteers
Thank you to all the officials and skiers for coming out and helping put on one of the best Eastern Regionals we have had, and a HUGE thank you to the Maloney Family for allowing the Alabama Water Ski Team to host regionals on your lake.

Some individual conference awards were also presented to some of our outstanding skiers/workers and teams.
SAC Skiing MVP
Congratulations to Quinn Haines from the University of Alabama for being nominated and selected as the SAC Skiing MVP.
“Quinn has been working above and beyond this past year to push the limits and improve not only his own skiing, but everyone else’s. He is always more than happy to stay at the lake an extra 30 minutes to ride for someone that needs coaching or driving people in jump. Not only is he a big asset in scores, but he puts in work to help everyone else improve. To top it all off, Quinn just shattered the SAC jump record by 6 feet this past weekend”. –Santiago Varas
SAC Team MVP
Congratulations to Ashley Stevens from Clemson University for being nominated and selected as the SAC Team MVP.
“Ashley is a huge help to the Clemson team. As Vice President this year she has organized 3 tournaments for our team at 3 different sites. This is a large task, but she also works at every tournament. She is a rated judge, driver, and scorer. She skis all 3 events and is helping all other times she is not skiing. Even at away tournaments Ashley always volunteers. She also organizes a spring break trip each year including skiing at Okeeheelee and various other fun team activities. The team would not be nearly as organized without her help.” –James Webber
Team Growth
Congratulations to Lander University for winning Team Growth.
“Lander has been a newcomer to the SAC scene these past few months and have started becoming a force to be reckoned with. Already having skiers that can run the course, this team has a solid foundation to keep growing and challenge the rest of the teams in our conference” –Santiago Varas
