Committee Chair Opening: Operations Chairperson

The NCWSA is taking applications for an immediate opening to fill the Operations Chairperson position.

Application Deadline: March 16, 2018 at 11:59pm CDT

Seeking: An individual willing to take charge of the role and make it their own, and utilize the resources/personnel available to them as a committee chair.

Primary duties: Conduct discussions within the Operations committee to analyze and assess the policies, procedures, and rules of the NCWSA. This includes alterations to current rules as well as new rules that do not yet exist.

Meeting Attendance: Attendance at NCWSA board meetings is optional, but strongly encouraged. The next meeting will be either at 2018 NCWSA Nationals or in January 2019 in Winter Haven, Florida. As noted in the NCWSA policies and procedures, a small travel stipend is available for the January Board of Directors meeting to all committee chairs to help encourage attendance and help offset part of the travel expenses associated with attendance.

General Description: Over the years the Operations Committee has been the genesis of many amazing rule changes that have significantly altered the NCWSA including creation of the Wild Card Tournament, the Medical Redshirt Rule, and the multiple expansions of NCWSA Nationals to the current field of 24 teams.  The overall goal of the committee is to allow regional contribution to potential rule changes, and to propose or investigate new rules that may help grow the NCWSA and our sport! In past iterations of the committee, most of the intra-committee interactions have been conducted over email between the months of October and January, but the new chair may set up a system of communication that best suits his or her committee and may use other months to help seek out or investigate new rule changes such that they can be formulated and well written once they are up for discussion in the months during and after the fall season.

Committee chairs interact directly with the Board of Directors as well as their committee which is composed of volunteers from each NCWSA region and an AAC committee member. Committee chairs are not part of the board of directors, but they are included on all board-wide emails along with the Honorary National Directors.

I am Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Chicago. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside and Bachelor's and Masters from Marquette University. I skied collegiately at Marquette and in 2009 I received the NCWSA Outstanding Leader Award. I was NCWSA Operations Committee Chair for 7 years, and the NCWSA Secretary for 8 years.
