Few people have dedicated as much time and service to collegiate water skiing as
Robert Rhyne. After starting his skiing career as a B-team skier for UNC Charlotte in
1994, he only continued to grow in his love for the sport. He eventually served the
NCWSA in numerous leadership and officiating roles, including serving as Eastern
Region Chair from 2005–2017, and then treasurer for the NCWSA. His extensive
service far exceeds the requirements for Honorary Director, which recognizes individuals
who have served as an NCWSA Director for at least six years or as an NCWSA Officer
for at least four years.
Robert Rhyne’s legacy is built on service to the sport and the skiers who make it what it
is. His legacy. He has been instrumental in supporting tournaments, officials, teams, and skiers at both regional and global levels, having officiated across three continents. His impact is unmatched, and earned him his place in the NCWSA Hall of Fame Class of 2018. Rhyne is now gaining his place among the Honorary National Directors.
