As the year of 2019 comes to an end, we would like to reflect back with those around us. We had some great national level events with 2019 NCWSA All-Stars at Swerve Watersports Center and the Syndicate Waterskis 2019 NCWSA Nationals at Bell Acqua Waterski Lakes.
Each of these articles will look back with reflections from those in a specific region or those reflecting on the events of that region. We kicked things off with the SAC, moved through the Midwest, visited the West Coast Best Coast, and now round out the regional reflections with the South Central.
2019 for the South Central
The Ragin’ Cajuns claimed the ultimate team prize by winning the national championship at the Syndicate Waterskis 2019 NCWSA Nationals. Let’s get to see what the Cajuns and their South Central brethren had to reflect on…
Giving Thanks
As I reached out to many individuals in this process, many simply wanted to give thanks to all those that helped their team, themselves, their region, or collegiate water skiing as a whole.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be involved daily in a sport that I love and that I am able to be on the water with friends and family!

Aaron Sander has been the Chief Judge at multiple SCR tournaments and has performed an outstanding job when needed especially at the Fall Classic. That tournament would not have run nearly as smoothly or been as successful without him.
Danny LeBourgeois, South Central Vice Chair and Colleen Jones, University of Texas
Mark and Kim Austin because they always have the team in mind. They come to tournaments and bring food; they help officiate and volunteer whenever needed. They generously donated changing towels to the team and opened their home at Regionals. Mark and Kim also were a big part to why SCR Regionals was such a success, they work tirelessly for this amazing sport!

Van and Jennifer Parker because they are selfless and would do anything for anyone in the sport. They are at every tournament, volunteering their time as officials and helping in any way they can. Van is that comforting face in the boat to calm anyone’s nerves and Jennifer is the smiling face on shore always interested in how you’re doing and what you’ve been up to. The two Parkers are always people who you look forward to see at every tournament!

Alumni, Danyelle and Steve Critchley have been supporting the team since they graduated. They have supported the team, given advise, cheered for the team, and have sponsored the team by helping us acquire a new boat yearly, as well as funded training sets at Bennett’s. We are very grateful!

Many of our skiers from Washington to Texas to Wisconsin to Georgia are grateful for their teammates that have turned into family and the skier that have become a close-knit community.
Thanks & Congratulations
We have many people involved in our sport that have allowed us to grow to where we are today. We would like to give thanks to everyone who has officiated at tournaments, been involved in the NCWSA, and those that have helped our teams in any way. We would also like to congratulate all of our skiers on the accomplishments that have happened throughout the year.
Rachel Walgenbach of Texas State University has done an amazing job this semester of recruiting, their team has doubled in size. It’s exciting to see new, passionate members joining the NCWSA.
Colleen Jones, University of Texas
University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns Water Ski Team, Jaimee Bull (ULL), and Harry Spavin (ULL) all won 2019 NCWSA Awards. Congratulations and thank you for all you do for your teams and the sport.
Shout Outs for Creating a Successful 2019
On Thanksgiving morning Guillaume Tetreault sent a personal message to every member of the team telling them what he is thankful for about them.

Ken Buchheit has been our Chief Driver at our fall tournament for years. At this point, he probably knows our lake better than we do. Ken is pivotal to the success of the tournament year after year.
Colleen Jones, University of Texas
Looking forward to another great year with the South Central!
