Grand Valley State University Hosts Jump Clinic

Grand Valley State Water Ski Team hosted a jump clinic August 18, 2018. The clinic was a joint effort by alumni, current skiers, and members of West Shore Ski Club in Conklin, Michigan. It was created with the idea that everyone can come out to the lake for a chance to get some practice jump sets in before the season starts! We had skiers of different abilities participate, some were alumni getting ready for alumni regionals, while others were getting a chance to jump for the first time! Each skier would get two sets of four jumps and lunch for only $30.

We had an award for most improved, from the first set to the second, which went to Grand Valley’s own Celia Lake who had never jumped before and landed 3 of 4 jumps her second set of the day! Michigan State took home the award for the team to bring the most skiers! Next year we are looking forward to hosting the clinic again and seeing a larger turnout! – Mary Wagner, Grand Valley State University
