Who is Joey Gilroy?
Hi I’m Goey. I go to the University of Cincinnati. Before coming to UC I filled my life with a variety of activities. I played football and lacrosse in high school, was on the Mock Trial team, and was an editor for my high school newspaper where I specialized in feature and sports articles.
That Thing Called School…
I am a sophomore Secondary Education student at the University of Cincinnati, minoring in history. I hope to take my education and teach high school history. After I graduate, my goal is to work for a year or two, then go back to graduate school where I can earn my Masters in School Counseling, and use the rest of my collegiate eligibility.
My Ski Life
Growing up, my family did not water ski much, but my sister joined the team at Ohio State where I was first exposed to collegiate skiing. I instantly fell in love with the sport. I joined my team during one of my first days on campus last year and it has been the best decision of my collegiate career. I am a 3-event skier for my team, but my favorite event is jump by far. My favorite part of tournaments is meeting new people and teams.
Outside of Water Ski:
Although I love water skiing, it is not the only thing that I do. Outside of classes, I enjoy volunteering with after school programs in the Cincinnati area, playing my guitar, doing graphic design, and running. On the weekends I like to travel to other campuses and hang out with ski teams throughout the Midwest.
What I am looking forward to:
One of the best parts of collegiate water skiing is meeting new people and making new friends from many different schools. I am excited for the opportunity to connect with other water skiers throughout the country and share all of our stories.
