Step 1: Intercept the students
- Participate at Involvement Fairs
- “Table” with your boat on campus
- No boat? Ask to partner with a local marina for a loaner
- Mention the team as your “Fun Fact” on syllabus day
- Wear gear around campus
- Team spirit apparel, or a swimsuit and vest…your choice
- Flyer & chalk around campus
- Promote across campus networks
- Post on social media and use Paid Social Ads
Step 2: Pitch your team
How do we get an 18-year-old to participate, and convince their parents to support their decision to join? Share all the great on-the-water opportunities and off-the-water friendships.
NCWSA athletes learn new skills, travel across the country, meet athletes from around the WORLD, compete for their school, stay active, make connections in the community, and experience the Lake Life while enhancing their education.
When in doubt, follow Jordan Belfort’s Straightline Sales guide.
Be sure to host an informational meeting on campus, or a lake day with transportation to orient prospective members.
Step 3: Always Be Closing
Don’t forget to close! Always finish the conversation with a “next step”. Get them to your first meeting, first practice, or first tournament!
Step 4: Celebrate new friends
Ski you at the lake!
