Over the next few months, we will be checking in with the current NCWSA record holders.
First up, Lauren Morgan (Instagram | Twitter), alumna of Florida Southern College (Instagram | Website). Lauren currently holds the NCWSA Women’s Jump record with a leap of 157 feet (47.9 meters). She set the record at 2011 NCWSA Nationals at Tri Lakes in Zachary, Louisiana (a.k.a. Bennett’s).
We checked in with Lauren this week, and asked her a few questions about her collegiate water skiing experience. Lauren graduated this past year, and is currently living in Seattle, Washington. She is working on her Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice and works as a clinical counselor for young women. As one might expect from an NCWSA record holder, Lauren still skis, as time allows, and she is looking forward to competing in a few tournaments this summer.
Lauren says, “Collegiate water skiing is probably the best thing going for our sport. I enjoyed every minute of it and truly miss it. Breaking the record in 2011 alongside good friend Zack Worden was, to this date, my best experience in skiing. I vividly remember breaking the record and having my whole team, including former coach Roger Skalko, jump in the lake to celebrate with me. I will never forget it.”
Congratulations on the holding onto the NCWSA record Lauren! We look forward to seeing you out on the water this summer!
