Cajuns Dominate on the Bayou

Due to construction on Bayou Desiard, the South Central Region collegiate ski teams and members of the University of Alabama Ski Team convened at TriLakes, home of Bennett’s Water Ski and Wakeboard School, for the annual Bayou Classic. Complete with a world-class site and perfect headwind, this tournament may go down as one of the best collegiate jump tournaments of all time.

Taking advantage of two lakes, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, the host team, set out to run all 235 pulls on Saturday. This feat was made possible through the hard work of ULM, and dedication from our volunteer officials and dock starters.

Men’s Slalom

Harry Spavin (ULL) swerved his way into first place with 5.5 buoys at 38 off followed by teammate Luke Outram (ULL) in second place with 2.5 buoys at 38 off and Ryan Bridgford (TAM) with 2 buoys at 38 off.

Men’s Trick

The Ragin’ Cajuns swept the men’s trick event with Edo Marenzi (ULL) racking up 5,810 points for the gold, followed by Guillaume “Guitet” Tetreault (ULL) taking silver with 5,420 points, and Luke Outram (ULL) in bronze with 5,320 points.

Men’s Jump

The men had the opportunity to jump behind the brand new 2020 6.0 L MasterCraft Prostar with Chris Wharton and Scott Greenwood at the wheel.

Carlo Basic (ULL), the Austrian sensation, was the last Men’s A jumper of the day and booted a massive 189 foot jump to place himself firmly atop the podium. Quinn Haines (ALA) secured second place with a score of 186 feet and Patrik Oehman (ULL) and Ben Leutz (ALA) tied for third place with distances of 181 feet.
