Auburn Volunteers at Storybrook Farm
On January 20th, the Auburn Water Ski Team (Facebook | Instagram) volunteered at Storybrook Farm, which is a nonprofit ministry that allows kids with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges the opportunity to ride horses at no cost.
The Auburn team volunteers a few teams per year and gives back to the surrounding community. Last year they visited Storybrook Farm, and knew that they had to go back this year. This time, the team spent a majority of the day picking up horse manure in the six pastures and each horse stall in the barn. After removing manure, the team had to opportunity to help the farm with a task that hadn’t been done in years due to lack of help: cleaning the ceiling fans in each stall.
Libby Burroughs, vice president, said, “Our team loved the experience. It was so rewarding for us to play such a small part in something so much bigger than ourselves. We loved being able to do something unnoticed and behind the scenes to make the experience better for the kids who view Storybook Farm as the best part of their week.”
As Libby says, if you don’t see the Auburn team out at the lake on a Saturday, there is a good chance you can find them picking up horse manure!
